At Be Your Own Doula, it is our mission to help all women to have a positive birth experience.

 

What is a Positive Birth?

 

Every woman, baby and birth is unique and every woman’s idea of a positive birth is different.

We believe that, although we each have our own ideals, hopes and individual birth plans,  all births should have some things in common-

every woman should feel seen, heard, calm, in-control, well-informed, safe, relaxed and confident about labor and birth.

 

It is our mission to help reduce fear and symptoms of birth-related trauma by supporting women to support themselves.

We believe every woman deserves to have a birth that they are happy to remember, instead of in a rush to forget.

 

We believe the key to achieving a positive birth is preparation.

 

 

How do I prepare for labor and birth?  

There is so much information out there, where do I begin?

 

The most important advice is to begin somewhere!

Be Your Own Doula app is simple, fast and user friendly.

It is unique and compact,  focusing solely on how you can help yourself prepare for labor and birth. There is no risk of getting way-laid with lots of fun facts and endless pro’s and con’s, meaning you to stay right on track towards your positive birth.

 

When it comes to birth preparation we believe YOU are your greatest asset.

So often we feel we have to look outside of ourselves when it comes to navigating life’s challenges, as if we don’t already have everything we need inside ourselves.

We want to help you recognise your own super-powers, to know your own strength and unleash your fierce courage. There is no one else who can birth your baby better than you can. We want you to become your number one fan and greatest cheerleader.

The greatest gift you can give yourself and your baby right now is YOU.

 

The Be Your Own Doula App focuses on three main sections.

1.      Knowledge-it’s a great idea to have some knowledge about what is happening in your body during labor.             We look specifically at the cervix, hormones of labor and the pelvis. We give you the basics-just enough to           help you understand the process of labor.

2.      Practices-it is a good idea to practice some coping mechanisms during pregnancy so whenever labor                     begins you are good to go. We look at breathing techniques, such as the birthing breath, relaxation                       techniques, and some gentle stretches and exercises you can incorporate easily into your day. All of these             practices will help you to manage better in labor and hopefully allow labor to progress nicely whenever it             begins.

3.      Your Labor Bubble-we take a look at lots of other ways your can prepare for labor in order to help make it           your own.
